 The journey Begins

The Aussie gang embarked on its long 14-hour flight form Los Angeles filled with excitement and anticipation for the new adventures awaited at the destination.  As the group sat in their assigned seats, their long journey over to Australia was filled with movies, cramped legs and some not to shabby airplane meals. As the Quanta’s plane finally arrived the group quickly shuffled through all the needed extensions in order to officially begin their adventures. Once all bags, belongings and people were loaded onto the bus, the journey officially began.
A quick roundabout the life of downtown Melbourne residents was how the first day of activities began. Tid-bits of trivia and facts were fed to tired but eager eyes as the crew stayed awake with noses glued to their windows, taking in the sights. The journey continued and made a quick stop at the Queen Victoria Market. Filled with lively interaction of people eagerly buying and selling goods, and others mingling about in the chilly morning air. The different phrases and atmosphere, along with the different architecture of Melbourne all together made it clear this foreign country was one that holds something new.  After tasting a few samples of Melbourne lifestyle and food, the journey continued to lead to lunch, and trendy piece of artistry and the CDG arena.
The set up of downtown Melbourne allows for food, shops and other small businesses to be open even in the tightly squeezed alleyways. Each alley holds a new surprise, whether it is filled with graffiti stained artwork demanding attention, or trendy cafés and restaurants waiting to be explored. The artwork of Melbourne is etched in in every color and structure of every building making it feel like such a new and beautiful destination that holds a different story for every resident.
The last destination that held the most to offer was the CDG Arena. The 100,000 seated arena, over the years, as been the home to many Olympic athletes, football, and rugby and cricket players with enough accomplishments and talent to leave the Aussie gang in awe. While the group filled with student athletes can relate, the enormity of the arena and its capacity to hold so many, leaves these athletes taking pictures in hopes of reaching the same accomplishments.

The journey we took today was so packed full of adventure and information and it was only day one. This small gang managed to do what others take days to-do in a short few hours and do it was just a zest for learning about this new foreign land. This blog can’t possible do justice to the experiences lived today and it never should. The beauty about this trip is each person in this group getting to experience every new opportunity differently and seeing something others may not. I’m quickly learning that Australia is not a place you can read, write or learn about, it’s a place you have to experience on your own in order to really understand the greatness of this country.
